The Invisible Girl Book Review

Hi guys, today I am going to be sharing another book that I absolutely love by the same author as before, Kate Maryon, who has written multiple books which are full of adventure, emotion and fear. This post (very much like the last) is a SPOILER ALERT so if you want to read the book without me giving away to much is suggest you look away before it’s to late!:)

The Invisible Girl is a story about a twelve year old, Gabriella, who has lived with her mean Mum, soft Dad and caring Beckett (Gabriella’s step-brother) for a period of their lives, up until Gabriella’s Mum thought that her partner was useless meaning for her to move on. Gabriella and her Dad were doing fine on their own, until strict and cruel, Amy, Gabriella’s Dad’s new girlfriend, barges in on their lives and changes everything. Amy thinks that Gabriella gets in the way of everything and once her Dad had fallen in a deep love for Amy, he asks her to marry him! The new engaged couple then decide, to go and get married 1) without Gabriella and 2) in a tropical country, that leaves Gabriella with only one choice; she has to go and live with her Mum...

My favourite part is when Beckett comes to Amy’s Mum’s house (where Gabriella is staying) and has all the contracts to take her home. This makes me feel so happy that they have reunited and that Beckett has come and whisked her away so that Gabriella can do something she has been wanting to do for  almost all her life. If this was me I would also be really hoping my older, awesome and kind brother would do the same for me! My least favourite part is how it doesn’t tell you why Tia, a girl who sometimes lives on the streets, isn’t living in her cosy house, I really wanted to know as Gabriella kept asking this question, but she never seemed to answer.

In this book, Kate really tests your ability to not get upset or end up crying, her words can really play with my emotions and make you think how lucky I am to have friends, money and a house to live in. She is incredibly good at changing the scene, for example, one minute everyone’s happy then the next everyone’s gloomy and sad. I am really inspired to write like Kate does as I used to think I was all wow, but now I realise that’s nothing to what I can do now. Also, what I can do now is NOTHING compared to the work that Kate Maryon shows, she is dedicated, inspirational and quite heart-touching too!

Overall I give this book, again, 10/10, but I definitely enjoyed this book a lot more than I did a Million Angels it is so much more creative, adventurous and exciting. Thanks for reading for reading my blog everyone, and I hope you take in to consideration to read her books. Bye! :)

A Million Angels Book Review

Hi guys, today I am going to review a book I have just finished called A Million Angels by Kate Maryon! I have found it very emotional and tense but over all I enjoyed it very much. If you don’t want me to spoil anything then look away, but if you are intrigued to find out more about this amazing book then read on...

This book is all about a twelve year old girl’s dad who goes to war. Jemima, the twelve year old girl, worry’s very much about her Dad, her imagination grows as every day she thinks about her father. The reason that Jemima misses her Dad more than every girl put together, is because her Dad and Jemima have a connection, one that none of her friends or family have, they talk everything through together and even share the same hair style. Things soon get worse once her horrible “friend” Jessica goes on and on about being the daughter of a soldier and that she might be on TV! (Personally I really hate her a lot more than Jemima does). Lots of people change Jemima’s thoughts and feelings throughout this story and definitely changed how I thought about all the characters.

My favourite part is when Jemima finally learns to trust; this make her a stronger and a lot more confident at speaking about what she thinks instead of building a brick wall and hiding in her shell. My least favourite part is how Georgie (Jessica’s Mum) has such a big mouth and blabs on about anything that is nothing to do with her.

I love Kate’s way of writing she finds such a way to dig in to someone’s heart and make it beat faster and faster, and I am really inspired by how she uses words to create something that’s emotional. The sentences that she uses find a way to twist my feelings from one minute happy to another minute heart-breaking. She is officially my favourite author and I am really looking forward to read her other books!

Overall, I give this emotional, happy, and amazing  book 10/10. I have loved every moment of reading this book and I hope you will take consideration to read her books as well! Bye everyone!

Long Time No Blog!

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been blogging for a while, but here is a post to make it up to you. Enjoy! :)

Recently, I have really enjoyed drawing and practising my art skills. It's my favourite subject at school, although I enjoy art at home more because I'm able to draw whatever I want with my million supply of pens. The good thing about being a beginner is you are able to find the area of art you are good at and play around with it.  I enjoy drawing with my Dad because he will always help me and find an area for me to improve in, he is amazing at art. All my skills are passed down from my Dad's Grandma and Grandad and I am really pleased I have my art skills with me today! It makes me who I am and creates a calm and relaxed feeling inside of me.

I love practicing my realism, as my Dad is really good at it, also I have watched people on YouTube draw people and face features and I am always inspired to draw like them!

My inspiration for this was out of a book called Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Stuff by Angela Nguyen. I decided I would draw my cute bunny (Merlin, who passed away two weeks ago) before he died, as I knew he was going to die soon. I thought I would draw him in a field as he never actually got to run around outside.

Again, I took the inspiration from the above book, I was flicking through the pages when I spotted this really cute fox. First, I sketched my design then started to colour with a mixture of colouring pencils and felt tips. I decided the fox would be walking through the woods and in between the tree I tried to give the impression that there were more trees and bushes behind them.

Again, I was given the inspiration from the above book. At first, I thought I should draw myself doing a karate kick, soon I thought to myself, why not add my little brother in dodging out of the way, then I thought that my brother would fall over in a fight and I would always win. From that moment on, I thought I should draw me kicking my little brother, him falling over and a lady in the background blowing a whistle.

For this I thought why not draw a dragon (using inspiration from the above book), like any fairy tale, the dragon is always guarding a castle, so here is a picture of a dragon guarding a castle with a brave knight trying to venture himself inside.

For this creepy picture I thought I should draw myself an avatar. I had sketched the design and then felt like I should draw a girl with button eyes, who is goth like. I took the inspiration from an amazing film called Coraline (SPOILER ALERT) it's all about a girl who wants parents to spend time with her, she then finds herself in a different world with different parents who want to sew button eyes on to her face! I know, a bit creepy, but definitely worth watching.

I am trying to become a better artist every day, I would really love to get some awesome Copic marker pens but they cost a bit too much money so I'll have to keep dreaming :)

Clip and Climb

For my inset day a few weeks ago, my friends and I went to Clip 'n Climb in Derby! It was my first ever time going and I really enjoyed it. It is a big building where you are hooked on to a rope and you can climb walls with all different designs on. I got to the top of the walls on most of them but there were some challenging walls. When you climbed up you could let go of the wall and just slowly glide down that part was really enjoyable! :)

My first go at climbing was on a red maze type wall, I was really frightened about dropping off the wall but then I told myself you will enjoy it once you do it and that is when I let go and started dropping to the floor, It was like floating down like a superhero!

One of my favourites was tall pillars where you had to climb up them and then drop of. I wanted to go on the Leap of Faith (which is a board where you jump of and try and grab a punch bag) but unfortunately our period of fun had ended and it was to late for me to go on it. (It costs extra money to go on this)

I definitely would love to go again because I had so much fun. One thing I’ve learnt from this is when your up high NEVER LOOK DOWN because it can make your nerves worse and frightens us all!

FLORIDA! - SeaWorld, Aquatica, Busch Gardens and Discovery Cove.

Florida was the best holiday I have EVER had. I know that I have been to other great places like Disneyland Paris, Wales, France, but this was special and by that I mean REALLY special!

We stayed in a 4-star Hotel called Renaissance Orlando. Outside is a huge swimming pool that we swam in all week with our new friends!

SeaWorld...

The first theme park we went to was SeaWorld. SeaWorld was awesome because it probably had the most INSANE rides.

Our first ride was Mako, SeaWorld’s newest ride - It was a really scary ride but I didn’t go on it because 1) it looked horrifying and 2) it is the LONGEST, FASTEST AND TALLEST RIDE IN ORLANDO!!!  My Dad is crazy because he loved Mako and he went on it three times!

There were three shows, 1st was Blue Horizons (a dolphin show with soaring birds) then Sea Lion High and last but not least, the Shamu show! I loved Sea Lion High because it was all based on high school but with sea lions, and at the end a walrus came on stage. My favourite show was the Shamu show because it was amazing seeing killer whales up-close.

Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin was a cold ride that spun you round and at the end you were able to see the penguins swimming and walking. Journey to Atlantis is quite a scary ride. You first of all go through the kingdom of Atlantis and soon you will be plunging a very steep drop! As you are thinking it is all over, IT’S NOT; it then takes you into another drop.

Food...

For our lunch we went to Sharks Underwater Grill. As you sat down you noticed you were sitting next to a HUGE tank with sharks swimming back and forth with their beady eyes looking AT YOU!!! For dinner we went to Dine with Shamu, which is a buffet and where you sit next to the killer whales habitat. We were so close, they even splashed us.

I am giving SeaWorld 8/10

Aquatica...

The first ride we went on was Taumata Racer. Mum, dad and me had to race through some tubes and then slide down a steep fall whilst getting splashed in the face with water! This is one of my favourites.

Next was Dolphin Plunge. Dolphin Plunge is a water slide where you slide through a twisting and turning tube and zoom past the Commerson’s dolphin exhibit. Sometimes you see them swim by.

Omaka Rocka was good because you sit in a rubber ring and slide all over the place. You also might get a bit WET!

Whanau Way was AWESOME because you go really fast. It is a two person waterslide where you ZOOM through a tube all the way into a pool. I went on it with my dad.

Roa’s Rapids is where you get a lifejacket and float along the water while the rapids take you round. It is similar to a lazy river but with rapids! :) This is good if you just want to relax and be in the water at the same time. This is another favourite of mine, I went on it more than four times because it’s that good! :)

Loggerhead Lane is a slow and peaceful ride that takes you past an exhibit full of colourful fish swimming around. Again it is a two-person rubber ring ride.

Walkabout Waters is a HUGE play area where you can get wet and squirt people! You can have fun sliding down the slippery slides and get soaked under the huge bucket.

Big Surf Shores is a big wave pool, the further you go the bigger the waves, which splash you all over the place. You can swim in it without the waves or with the waves; it is up to you, as the waves only last several minutes so enjoy it while you can but don’t worry the waves will come on again. It is a lot of fun to get splashed around; the waves really start getting big in the last few seconds!!!

Banana Beach is a buffet with yummy food where you can sit outside and eat under the shade. It is a perfect place to eat lots of delicious food. I mixed a load of food and drinks in a bowl and Lily and I were laughing so much!!!

The best part about Aquatica was going on all the water slides!

I give Aquatica 10/10

Busch Gardens...

This day was probably the busiest day possible. IT WAS INSANE, and in the end I was so tired!!!

First ride of the day was Cobra’s Curse, Busch Gardens latest ride. I was so nervous because on the leaflet it looked massive but when we got there it looked much smaller! When we got on, I was shaking but when we got past the first drop I was fine, I LOVED IT! #SCAREDYCAT. We did spin around and we did go backwards but it was AWESOME!!! I wish I could go on it again and again, Cobra’s Curse was one of my top favourites!

Next was my absolute favourite, Cheetah Hunt. Mum and I thought it was going to be a straight fast ride, BUT IT WASN’T, it was much more epic!!! You first got boosted into a fast push and then through a tight twist. The top speed was 60mph. You then went up a ramp and circled down then there would be a little drop and then you went upside down, that was my favourite part... sorry I can’t tell you everything you’ll just have to go to Busch Gardens and find out yourself!! I went on it twice because it was that epic. #BESTRIDEEVER!!!

Falcon’s Fury was a very scary ride, which my mum and dad went on and my mum was TERRIFIED, the closer the time came to it the more worried she would get, but after going on it she LOVED IT! I am glad she went on it because YOLO (You only live once!) and it was an experience of a lifetime.

Congo River Rapids was awesome as well. You are in a raft where everyone can get soaking but luckily I didn’t!! I was really hot after so Andy gave me a hug because he was soaking.

Serengeti Safari was cool. We were on a truck looking around at the animals, we also got to feed the giraffes lettuce but they have black slippery tongues.... ewwwww. We then went to feed the flamingos and to see Harry the sloth. Then we got to interact with a HIPPO. It was SO cute!!!

My favourite ride was definitely Cheetah Hunt. It is the best ride I have ever experienced. #AWESOME

I give Busch Gardens 10/10!!!

Discovery Cove...

Discovery Cove was amazing; we were able to swim with DOLPHINS!!! The dolphin we swam with was called Yoko. When we were swimming with Yoko we could kiss her, swim with her and she splashed us. She also did flips.

The cool thing about Discovery Cove was that there was a snack bar with this delicious, scrumptious and yummylishous soda slushie drinks. I had White Cherry. MMMMMMMM YUMMY!

The best part about Discovery Cove was swimming with the dolphins!

I give Discovery Cove 9/10.

The best part about my holiday was ALL OF IT!! I hope you enjoyed reading my long blog! Enjoy your day.

Bunny and Boo’s Adventure at Gulliver's Land

Today bunny and I went to Gulliver's Land in Milton Keyne with my little brother and Mum & Dad.. It was ALOT of fun!! I really enjoyed all the rides I went on and I think bunny enjoyed it too.

My favourite ride was called Python, it was a rollercoaster that is quite twisty, but overall i think it’s a great ride to go on and it’s great fun. I also like the drop tower which was great fun as well.

Bunny’s  favourite ride was the carousel. We had a lot of fun on all the other rollercoasters as a family. All the rides were tiny compared to the ones I have been on in Florida but that's ok because I like small roller coasters that take a minute as well.

Overall it was a great day out! I am really glad we came here on the last day of the half term. I give it a 10/10 because there was a lot of halloween theme to it. Also because the rides were EPIC and because there were people dressed up as zombies and witches.

It was a good second adventure with bunny!

Bunny and Boo's Adventures at Warwick Castle

Hey guys. I am just doing a little blog to let you guys know that I am going to try to do more blogs more often because I know I haven’t done many recently.

I am also letting you know that I am going to do blogs that include me going on adventures with the bunny that I got for my birthday. Our first adventure was today at Warwick Castle.

Mine and Bunny’s adventure was at Warwick Castle today. We walked around the castle exploring different rooms with armour for horses, swords, dining room and lots more.

We also went in the Horrible Histories maze. Bunny and me had a lot of fun collecting the stamps hidden around the maze. We also got a badge as the prize.

My favourite part was just exploring really, I loved watching the shows as well. Bunny’s favourite part was the whole adventure! (Except the car journey.)

It was quite a long car journey but I think it’s worth going! I give Warwick Castle an 8/10 because there are some good shows and apparently there is a terrifying dungeon (but I DIDN’T go in!)

One thing I do suggest to Warwick Castle though is that they make more things to do for kids and adults! I would have liked the playground to be open.

I hope you enjoyed reading my 1st adventure with bunny and hope you read all my other blogs!

Awesome Party Bags for 10 Year Olds

It was my 10th Birthday party yesterday and I had 5 of my friends to my house for a movie night. We had such an awesome time. Mum made us hotdogs, pizza, fries with fruit and veggies. We also had scrumptious cupcakes for dessert and then settled down to watch Alice in Wonderland with popcorn and sweeties.

I had a brilliant piñata cake that had lots of little rainbow sweets inside when I cut into it.

I had some lovely presents from my friends and I sent them home with these amazing goodie bags...

Mum found these brilliant plastic popcorn pots and we filled them with the goodies below...

There are some Millions, Nerds, Popping Candy, Whistle lolly, Maoam's, Lip balm, Duck eraser,  Panda keyring, Highlighter pen  and a colour change pen.

I made these pandas keyring by myself using Hama Beads. I hope my friends like them :)

It's my actual birthday on Wednesday so I am really looking forward to that now but I had the best 10th birthday party with my friends :O)

My Personal Best!

I was very proud of myself yesterday as I went to Junior Parkrun after a few weeks off. It was my 21st Parkrun which means I have run the same distance as a marathon, so next time I go I will get my marathon wristband. I also got my PB (personal best) which I was very surprised at! I ran 2KM in 10 minutes and 24 seconds which I think is pretty awesome!

It was our local junior Parkrun's 1st birthday so we all got to have some cake afterwards which was yummy! If you have a junior Parkrun near you then you should go as it is lots of fun and keeps you fit :)

SelfieMic features an adjustable selfie stick with karaoke microphone, earpiece and free StarMaker app, which allows you to sing, lip sync and perform to thousands of your favourite songs, including tracks made famous by Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Justine Bieber and many more.

I've been having loads of fun with Selfie Mic recently, I love being able to sing along to songs and record myself doing it. I do wish there were more that I know though as I don't seem to know that many. You can save the videos that you make and even share them on social media. I think I will practise more before I share any though ;)

In the box is the microphone, earpiece and instructions. You need to use a smart phone which is compatible and download the free Starmaker app to be able to play.

I like all the different effects you can put on the video like different sounds and colours. I think the space sound is really funny. I can't wait to play with this when my friends come round it will be much more fun to do with my friends :)

Kids Eat Out: Pizza Express

Last weekend we were invited to Pizza Express to check out their Ice Age Collision Course activity sheets that come with each Piccolo activity pack. We had an awesome meal and even got to make some dough shapes to take home too!

The Piccolo menu costs £6.95 and has three courses. Drinks are extra.

The Ice Age Collision Course activity sheet is really good and I can't wait to watch the film now!

For starter I had baked dough balls with garlic butter and salad. They were yummy, the salad was fresh and delicious too, no floppy carrots here! ;)

My pizza was a Pollo which is chicken, it was really delicious but I would have liked a little bit more cheese as it was quite tomatoey.

For dessert I had a sundae which is a scoop of vanilla gelato with either fruit or chocolate sauce and a mini cone on top. You also get a bambinoccino which is frothy milk with chocolate sprinkled on top.

I love Pizza Express and can't wait to go again :)

You can see my Mum's full review over on her blog... Ice Age Fun with Pizza Express

Kids Eat Out: Colman's Fish & Chips South Shields

When we went on holiday at half term we went to South Shields for the day, Mum went on Trip Advisor to find the best Fish & Chips in South Shields and we discovered Colman's Fish & Chips. Colman's have a take away and a restaurant and we decided that we would sit and eat in the restaurant as it was a pretty chilly day.

The kids menu had an under the sea theme and was full of puzzles, anagrams and colouring for me to do! I really enjoyed this and even took it home to finish it.

On the kids menu (Under 12's) you could choose from...

  • Fish & Chips - £4.50
  • Fishcake & Chips - £4.50
  • Sausage & Chips - £4.50
  • Crispy Chicken Fillets & Chips - £4.50

Each item comes with Heinz Tomato Ketchup and a Simply Fruity drink or glass of cordial.

I went for sausage and chips as I am not too keen on fish. I was a bit worried about the chips as they were so thick and usually they are very potatoey when they are thick but these were really really nice.   I ate everything on my plate as it was delicious!

Mum & Dad had the fish & chips special and were very impressed. We will definitely go back on our next visit to South Shields :)

* We paid for our meals, I just wanted to write about it for my Kids Eat Out feature :)

Kids Eat Out: GBK Metro Centre Gateshead

We have eaten at Gourmet Burger Kitchen loads of times, it is Mum & Dad's favourite place to go for burgers. Kids get their very own menu with a colouring sheet on the back so once we had ordered our burgers we sat and coloured them in.

The junior menu is £6.95 and for that you can choose a burger, side and a drink. You can even add a dessert for £1.00 if you wish but I am always too full for that.

The burgers you can choose from are cheeseburger, chicken burger or veggie burger. The sides are chunky skin-on or skinny fries, corn on the cob or a simple green salad. For drinks you can choose from fresh apple or orange juice, spring water, lots of different milkshake flavours and soft drinks like Coca-Cola or Sprite.

I went for a cheeseburger (without cheese), skinny fries and a chocolate milkshake. It was really delicious but I was so full after my milkshake. It is so filling! Next time I won't drink so much before my burger arrives.

The staff at the Metro Centre GBK were very friendly and super fast! Our whole meal was awesome so GBK gets a big thumbs up from me :)
